Tags/License

This department of the Probate Judges Office offers services that include tags, titles, boats, hunting license, fishing license, and business license. Some of our services can be done by person, by internet, or by mail. For questions concerning any of the following, we can be contacted at 256-386-8542.

Pictured below is the standard county plate or you have the option to purchase the God Bless America plate for no additional charge. Please let us know which tag you would like during your renewal month.

When registering a vehicle or renewing tags you must bring your insurance cards for all vehicles and the drivers license number and expiration date of all parties on the registration.
 
REGISTERING A NEWLY ACQUIRED VECHICLE
When purchasing a tag for a newly acquired vehicle, you must come into our office and register the vehicle within 20 calendar days from the date of purchase, or if purchased from an Alabama dealer you may use our online registration option, EasyTag. If purchased from and individual or an out of state dealer, sales tax will be due on the purchase price of the vehicle.

• Alabama Drivers License or Alabama Non-Driver ID
• Mandatory Liability Insurance
• Owner Listed on Title Must be Present

VEHICLES PURCHASED FROM AN INDIVIDUAL (Alabama Title)

• Title or Alabama Title Application
• Bill of Sale
• Mandatory Liability Insurance
• Alabama Drivers License or Alabama Non-Driver ID
• Owner Listed on Title Must be Present

VEHICLES PURCHASED WITH AN OUT OF STATE TITLE (Dealer or Individual)

• Title or Alabama Title Application 
• Bill of Sale
• Alabama Drivers License or Alabama Non-Driver ID
• Mandatory Liability Insurance
• Must Bring Vehicle for Inspection or Have a State Inspection Form
• Owner Listed on Title Must be Present

REGISTERING VEHICLES WHEN MOVING FROM ANOTHER STATE

• Title or copy of title if there is still a lein holder
• Alabama Drivers License or Alabama Non-Driver ID
• Mandatory Liability Insurance
• Must Bring Vehicle for Inspection or Have a State Inspection Form
• Owner Listed on Title Must be Present
